• Review existing operation if appropriate
• Review site location and appropriateness, i.e. airside and landside access etc
• Clear obstacle surfaces penetration
• Determine floor space requirements and potential foot print
• Prepare written brief covering recommendations, relevant documents, functional brief, size/capacity, basis of design and specification
• Concept design options
• Evaluation of options against criteria matrix
• Agree preferred design
• Determine key functional requirements with stakeholder, i.e. the size and exact number of aircraft in the hangar, the level of maintenance required, nature of cargo handled and annual tonnage throughput
