2015 - Chengdu Airport International Design Competition: Principle Architect with Arup Design Team
Arup was shortlisted with 6 other international design teams for the design competition.
Richard Chapman of ADC was asked to be the Principle Architect for the Arup team.
- Concept design for 2 new terminals to provide capacity for 40mppa. Terminal 1 to be for international and domestic traffic and Terminal 2 for domestic traffic.
- Total floor area to be approximately 520,000m2
- 103 contact stands, 16 remote stands, 18 cargo stands, 26 repair and maintenance stands and 18 general aviation stands, making a total of 181 in all
- The terminal master planning to be part of an overall master plan to provide a total of 4 separate terminals and 258 stands when complete.
- The scheme is to provide a multimodal transport interchange for long distance train, local metro and vehicular road traffic.
- Car parking, and hotels are to be provided in the landside forecourt area
